Bath Clinic Saturday 16th September:
The
Bath University Clinic was due to be a great day for the Swim
Smooth Team as both Paul and Stuart had studied at the University
for their respective degrees. Local coach Neil Scholes provided
some superb assistance for the 12 swimmers during the day and
his help was greatly appreciated!
Reviews:
As is becoming customary from our Clinics, we
have provided below a sample of some of the comments from the
12 swimmers who took part in the Bath University Swim Smooth Clinic:

this
review on the Club's website.
Had my one-to-one with
Paul earlier today and have to agree these sessions are really
worthwhile. I didn't end up with a complete overhaul (thankfully!)
but plenty to think about and work on in the next couple of months
and beyond.
Paul was excellent - very patient and with lots
of great advice on a number of areas for improvement without going
into information overload. All the suggestions were based very
much around what Paul thought would work for me and my particular
style of swimming and were backed up with recommendations for
breathing exercises and stretches.
I would thoroughly recommend these to anyone
looking to improve their swimming or to those, like me, who are
not sure where their swimming is going at all! I came out of it
feeling much more confident about what I should be doing and also
super motivated!

Having just been to the SwimSmooth clinic at
Bath Uni - I'd highly recommend it. I've got a lot of hard work
to do this winter practising and practising, but having been videoed
for the first time, I've got something definite to work on, whereas
previously I'd just been thrashing around going nowhere. I'm no
Ian Thorpe, but I only did the clinic on Saturday and have just
got back from the pool today - I was previously posting 62s for
50m and this was down to 47s and that was at the end of my session.
I reckon that that's a pretty decent improvement for starters...
Thanks again to Paul, Neil and Stuart for a
great day.
Rob Saunders.
I was at the Bath clinic this weekend too, and
came away fully motivated. I started the 8 week training plan
by doing a 1000 TT to get a baseline and looking at the time I'd
done I thought I'd missed out 4 laps - so I did it again today
(to be sure) and have actually taken 2 minutes off my usual time
and felt much more comfortable doing it too. Just from one or
two simple points to work on!!
So a BIG thank you to Paul, Neil and Stuart
from me too.
Michelle John.
