The Wetronome stroke pacing unit is a unique tool that allows the swimmer to programme a pre-determined stroke rate (SR) into the device using the accompanying "magic wand". This allows the user set the Wetronome to beep at a series of regular audible beeps from 10 beats per minute (bpm) all the way up to a staggering 309bpm!!

Whilst most swimmers will have a natural stroke rate / arm turn-over (or "base rate") of between 42 and 70spm (strokes per minute), the Wetronome has many applications, such as for working on stride rate for the run and cadence on the bike, where values are typically much higher than in the swim.

Many people wrongly assume that working on stroke rate for your swimming is all about elevating your natural base rate and would argue then that this would make the stroke "scrappy" or "inefficient".
