This follows the entire section of drills from each of the 7 areas of the freestyle stroke and is designed to show the viewer how to Swim Smooth. Bill Kirby, Olympic Gold Medallist leads this demonstration in the incredible 10-lane outdoor 50m pool at Challenge Stadium in Perth, Western Australia, which has been used for two World Swimming Championship events in 1991 and 1997. Watch Bill from a variety of angles both under and above the water. The clip is concluded with a short 60 second preview of the entire DVD boxset including images from DVD # 2 demonstrating open water swimming technique. For those statisticians out there, Bill is swimming 400m freestyle in this clip with an average 100m pace of 1:10 and a stroke count of 30 strokes per 50m. Look at how easy he makes it look and pay particular attention to his very relaxed stroke with minimal freestyle leg kick propulsion and extremely low drag.
