Exciting Coaching Opportunities with Swim Smooth!

The current mobile structure and organisation of our Swim Smooth Clinics is such that at each Clinic we often require some additional coaching assitance. This is both beneficial for the provision of quality service on the actual day of the Clinic and also for the long-term development of "smooth swimming" in the local area. By working closely with local coaches, we believe that this scheme will offer the local community enhanced swimming education both for the swimmers AND for the coaches. This effort will hopefully mean that the "wave" of motivation that is often associated with such a workshop will not diminish after just a few weeks of the course. Coaches are also actively encouraged to stay in contact with Swim Smooth following the Clinic and will have the opportunity to liaise directly with Paul Newsome with any future questions or queries.

What will you receive as an assistant to the Head Coach?

The coach(es) that assist the Head Coach will have full access to all the same learning materials everyone on the Clinic receives and during the theory components will discover how the Swim Smooth methodology can be incorporated into your existing training program on an ongoing basis. During the practical swim, core and flexibility practical sessions the coach will be present with Paul and the other coaches poolside during the active coaching, and as such develop first hand skills in our practices. Whilst we are in no way implying that this person will in any way become a "qualified coach" from this, we are sure you will find this offer to be of great benefit to your personal development as a coach.

How much do you pay?

In order for Swim Smooth to keep the rates for our Clinic swimmers among the most competitive in the market, we are only able to offer a nominal amount for coaching assitance on the day of the Clinic. Our typical rates are £75.00 GBP / $150 USD / $150 CAD / $195 AUD for the full day per coach. Whilst we cannot offer any travel expenses for the day, full course materials and refreshments will be given.

Swim Smooth views this as a great opportunity to learn our practices directly and thus being great extra-curricula coach education. We can provide full written references for any coach whom assists at one of our Clinics, which may also be beneficial for your future coaching endeavours.

What qualifications do we seek in our assistants?

All coaching assistants to the Swim Smooth Head Coach will require at least club-level swim / triathlon coaching qualifications (i.e. Level 1 and above in most countries) from their respective country and full Senior First Aid and CPR awards as standard. In the event of several coaches applying for a place on the same Clinic, we will look for tertiary education in a sports science related field and actual hands-on coaching experience as further selection criteria.

We would also require each coach to share a similar philosophy to Swim Smooth. We are strongly of the belief that working with coaches whom have a similar open-minded outlook to their coaching methodology as us, albeit with their own "twist", creates a highly beneficial learning environment for the swimmers on the course.

Inline with our belief about incorporating the experience of 'external' assitants to the Head Coach, Andre Gide once said:

"...believe those whom are seeking the truth, doubt those who find it."

Whilst we believe the the Swim Smooth stroke correction system is a world-leader in addressing individual idiosyncracies, and in doing so catering for a wide range of abilities, we are also realistic when we state that sometimes two coaches may be saying exactly the same thing to the same person, but in a subtley different way. The actual swimmer may click with one coach's explanation or terminology more than with the other. Often this comes down to the simple difference in the "coach / athlete language" in that local area. As such, if you think you share this same open-minded realism and are keen to enhance your own coaching education further, we want to work with you!

Drop us an email today with a bit of background about yourself, your education, your current coaching interests and your chosen Swim Smooth Clinic to work on, and we'll get in touch with you.

Future Coach Education Opportunities:

Due to the high demand from coaches whom have worked with us in the past and others whom have heard about our successful coaching practices, we are looking at the potential of offering a specific Swim Smooth Coach education program within the next 12 months. This will be an excellent opportunity to become a fully accredited Swim Smooth coach. Details of this scheme will be posted on this page in the near future.
