Swim
Smooth Methodology:
Swim Smooth is a unique swim stroke correction
program, specifically for triathletes and long-distance open
water swimmers, which aims to provide you with a program
that caters to your ability and your level of
understanding of the freestyle stroke.
We do not adopt a "cookie cutter"
methodology. Whilst we use a structured "model of efficiency"
in our Clinics and for individual work, the real beauty of our
approach is that we question "yes, this is all well and
good in theory, but what does it mean for you?.
How can we best apply this technique for you, given your
attributes and your training history?"
Our main focus is swim stroke correction for
triathlon. We know, just like you, that swimming in the
open water can be (at times) very different to swimming in a
pool. As such, our methodology includes looking at what is most
efficient in both environments and how it is possible
to master both. For many people, improving basic efficiency
through enhanced body position, breathing technique and body
rotation is where our coaching is centred. However, we also
know that to "get to that next level" that effective
propulsion - generated through the catch and pull through phase
of the freestyle stroke - is key. The savy triathlete also appreciates
that to be good in the swim discipline you need to work on both
your technique and your specific fitness adaptations
in your training. Swim Smooth takes a balanced approach to all
these aspects and focuses your attention on the area most beneficial
to you at that time. In this way, our swimmers continue to learn
to improve rather reaching a plateau and wondering "what
next?"
We
do not claim to have "reinvented the swimming wheel",
nor do we believe that every swimmer must be taught to swim
exactly the same way. Simply put, we see Swim Smooth
as being a leading swim stroke correction company that is based
upon sound biomechanical application of ideas, researched from
a huge variety of swimming and sports science resources and
backed by our own swimming and triathlon experience. This is
all put together in a format that is easy to learn and understand
by our swimmers. Swimmers like you.
