PODCAST: Imagine Finding a Treasure Chest Brimming with Secrets to Refine Your Swimming Technique and Endurance…

The 45th Ironman World Championships takes place this Saturday 14 October at 0625 (HST) and can be watched LIVE here - please get behind last year's winner, Chelsea Sodaro 🇺🇸 who has been working with Paul Newsome to further refine her swimming this season. Good luck to everyone competing! Listen to Chelsea talking about her preparation here.

You may remember from a couple of months ago on the blog, an extraordinary 62 year old swimmer by the name of Kelly Parker Palace?

Kelly had just swum 20:13 for 1500m freestyle (LC) after she claimed she was inspired to rediscover her best stroke technique from watching one of our latest YouTube videos. The video was all about refining your rhythm and fluidity in the water, and working to develop a stroke that works for you, even if that stroke doesn't fit the “convention” of what people believe to be an efficient stroke. You can see that video here.

The video was very detailed (at 37 minutes in length), but compared to a 1hr training session, obviously packed quite a punch for Kelly as she set her fastest time in over 2 years and both her 800m split and 1500m finishing time were quicker than her 2021 World #1 times. So, it's well worth a watch if you haven't yet.

This weekend just gone, Kelly also set the national US 500-yard record in a staggering 5:38.86 and also swam the second fastest 1,000-yard time in history in her age-group. You can read more about these events here and Kelly's clean-sweep at the US Masters National Championships earlier this summer. Bravo Kelly!

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago Kelly invited me on the top US Masters Swimming podcast, Champion's Mojo, and last week show number 229 finally aired. It even includes quite a bit of discussion about the recent UltraSwim33.3 (albeit recorded before the event has taken place).

From the show notes:
