I had the same doubt before I tried it. From my experience, it really depends on the type you choose, but most decent ones don’t block that much light. In my case, the room still feels bright during the day, just without that “everyone can see inside” feeling. It’s not a perfect solution at night if lights are on, but it still helps a bit.
